Porcelain Skin

Created with a ceramic burnout technique, the second skin of Ruinart series are experiments in which materials are transformed into shapes that suggest shells, calcified remains or things left behind.
This process involves dipping Ruinart’s second skin into liquid porcelain, letting the liquidized clay penetrate the surface of the second skin, and then firing these materials and clay together in a kiln.
During the firing, the second skin ignites and burns away, leaving only the porcelain as a husk of the original material that shaped it: a skin.
